meet plogging: where ecology and sport become even more compatible

Nowadays we have been seeing a growing social trend towards sustainability and eco-friendliness.

Sport is a perfect way to educate about environmental conservation, as well as eliminating stress and improving health, i.e. quality of life.

That's why today we want to share with you a sport that we love: plogging.

Do you know about it?

1. DISCOVER: WHAT IS THE SPORT THAT CARES FOR THE ENVIRONMENT?

PLOGGING is the answer!

This curious activity was born as an idea in Sweden due to the interest of taking care of the environment while doing sport. Ploggers, the followers of this movement, are runners who take advantage of their journey to collect all kinds of waste they find along the way.

Therefore, plogging is essentially a combination of jogging and picking up litter.

2. WHERE DOES IT COME FROM?

The word plogging comes from the Swedish plocka upp (to pick up) and the English jogging.

Who started this whole thing? The driving force behind the activity was the Swede, Erik Ahlström, who left his hometown in 2016 to move to Stockholm, and started cleaning up litter in the places he frequented while jogging.

Soon after, the routine spread across Sweden through popular events and today, thanks to social networks, it is a global phenomenon that involves more than 20,000 people a day in more than one hundred countries.

Are you up for it?

Surely near your town or city there is a group that does something similar.

In fact, we have found a plogging group on Facebook for you to check out!

Share your experience with us on Instagram by using the hashtag #clovereedgreen, and we'll publish it!
